Our iPhone 3GS review

The new iPhone device by Apple is in the market for some time now, but just recently it became available in our Country, Greece. It's our turn to write our review.

The first thing that came to our mind with the new device was that it's the same thing with the iPhone 3G. And it is, but only in the outside. When you start using it though, the difference is very obvious. The "S" in 3GS stands for Speed, and the new device is twice as fast as the the old one. You can actually feel it!

And that's not the only change. The camera is upgraded for higher quality photos and it's now able to record video, without the need of jailbreak and 3rd party apps. The most impressive though is not the video recording, but the editing of the video. Apple inserted all you need for basic video editing inside the phone, enabling users to express themselves with more creativity.

Also, in the hardware changes, there is now a compass. The combination of compass, accelerometer and the GPS gives to your phone the complete awareness of it's position in the globe, enabling it for new applications, starting with better GPS navigation and perhaps some cool Augmented reality apps on the way to come.

Another nice point is that there is a 32 GB version of the iPhone. If 16GB is not enough for you, thats the only way to go...

I will not talk about the additions to the operating system, because most of them apply to iPhone 3G too.

Our problem is the big expectations, caused by the rumours before the launch of the product. There is not a front camera for 3G video calls. There is no radio receiver(even if we don't actually need it), no radio transmitter, the camera is not good enough yet, the new screen is not what we expected, etc...

So the big question is: Does it worth to buy the new one?

Our opinion is that if you buy a new iPhone, better buy this one, but if you already have one and just want to upgrade to the new... think twice.
