Google Testing "My World" Second Life Rival?

According to Google OS, Arizona State University's students have the opportunity to test a new product "that will be publicly launched later this year" by Google. Rumors are talking about a new virtual world that will be tied with Google Earth.

The rumor actually started by a member of MacRumors:

When I had signed into my university e-mail I saw a link to this thing.
I thought it was just some dumb new service, until I saw they asked if I had a Gmail account. Weird?

What could Google be doing that involves 3D modeling and online gaming, if this is Google related at all.

There isn't any clue if it's really Google behind this.
